Geranium sends out their Fall 2014 newsletter to all the beautiful, happy, perfect people in Midhurst.

September 22, 2014

While making an impression on the former Federation of Ontario Naturalists (est. 1931).

MLG NL Fall 2014 1

If the Midhurst Secondary Plan, MSP is such a”A Done Deal” and the Midhurst Ratepayers’ Association is so clearly wrong, wrong, wrong: then why the drama?

MLG NL Fall 2014 2

Note back page article:

“ON Nature magazine apologizes and retracts statement

Geranium Corporation, one of the partners in the Midhurst Landowners Group, has received an unqualified retraction and apology in the pages of ON Nature magazine, and on the website of the magazine at : www.onnaturemagazine.com/2014/07

ON Nature is the publication of Ontario Nature, a charitable organization established in 1931 as the Federation of Ontario Naturalists. It’s [sic] correction and apology states:

“On page 10 of its Summer 2014 issue, ON Nature published an article entitled “Midhurst residents oppose development”. The article stated that a land developer mentioned in the article, Geranium Corporation, had not returned calls for comment. This was incorrect. In fact, Geranium and its public relations representative did return the reporter’s calls for comment, although through no fault of Geranium the reporter did not reach them in response. Geranium has provided ON Nature with the following statement responding to the article:

Geranium Corporation is an award-winning, Ontario-based home builder and developer with an excellent track record of public consultation and involvement, as well as respect for the environment and the years-long public approvals process. Its repeated invitations to meet with the Midhurst Ratepayers’ Association have been refused by the Association.

ON Nature regrets the error, and apologizes to Geranium.””

An important warning about the destruction of Wasaga Beach and Georgian Bay.

To Do:

  • Click here for information so you can write a hand-written letter to Premier Wynne complaining about this type of unfair propaganda.
  • And here to find out who are the other +44,600 fools who agree with these types of people.

The “Geranium Rule” was created by the stroke of an Ontario minister’s pen.

Over 200 hectares of farmland and Minesing Wetlands will likely be destroyed.

Protest signs

How vigorously has Springwater Township council protested to their provincial masters?

You decide.

At last night’s council meeting, Council was asked if they had at least sent a letter opposing the “Special Rule” that green lighted the massive Midhurst Secondary Plan.

  • The answer from staff: No.

A follow-up question:

  • Is the Mayor prepared to do so now considering the 2 petitions and Margaret Atwood coming to Midhurst to protect the Minesing Wetlands on June 22nd?

I took from the answer that there will not even a letter of protest from this Council.

What was offered up was a foretaste of a new township Procedural Bylaw that will rule “out of order” any such future questions.

They’re coming for the Simcoe County and MNR forests…once again.

May 18, 2014

In the 1800s, the great hardwoods forests were clear cut. Starting in 1905, men like Hon. E.C. Drury and Dr. Edmund Zavitz worked to help Mother Earth heal us.

Cancerous sprawl cannot stop itself by just destroying the land and water: the parasites are after the air.

The earthly manifestations of “God’s world” began with the realm of plants, as a kind of direct communication from it. It was as though one were peering over the shoulder of the Creator, who, thinking Himself unobserved, was making toys and decorations. Man and the proper animals, on the other hand, were bits of God that had become independent. That was why they could move about on their own and choose their abodes. Plants were bound for good or ill to their places. They expressed not only beauty but also the thoughts of God’s world, with an intent of their own and without deviation. Trees in particular were mysterious and seemed to me direst embodiments of the incomprehensible meaning of life. For that reason, the woods were the places where I felt closest to its deepest meaning and to its awe-inspiring workings. (MDR, PP. 67-8) PP. 28-9

Is the perceived destruction of the Minesing Wetlands by the Midhurst Secondary Plan’s wastewater treatment plant a “red herring”?

May 3, 2014

What if the City of Barrie supplies and receives 100% of the water that the “mythical” 10,000 new homes need?

RedHerring1f

Avoiding a $100 to 150-million capital expenditure can oil a few squeaky financial doors for the sprawl-induced budget crisis Barrie finds itself in.

Of course loading Lake Simcoe with 25% more treated water (phosphorus, pharmaceuticals, nitrates, etc.) might be a problem for the tree-huggers but annexation will solve that.

The Real Plan?: So the developers can run the pipes up either side of the village and build precisely one house on each corner of their bloodlessly named “Neighbourhood 1” and “Neighbourhood 2”. And then they can sit on the zombie agricultural land for decades or building precisely 20 homes per year if they want because there is no signed agreement with Springwater Township.  Or they can just like they’ve built a total of zero homes in Hillsdale after 6 years. Sweet deal for everyone, except our most important industry: agri-business.

Red herring definition:

The idiom “red herring” is used to refer to something that misleads or distracts from the relevant or important issue. It may be either a logical fallacy or a literary device that leads readers or characters towards a false conclusion. A red herring might be intentionally used, such as in mystery fiction or as part of a rhetorical strategy (e.g. in politics), or it could be inadvertently used during argumentation as a result of poor logic.

The smell now is only a fraction of what it will be in the future.
